Amendment to the Will County Code of Ordinances,
Title IX - General Regulations, Chapter 93 - Nuisances,
Section 93.018 "Location of Fires"

WHEREAS, Resolution 85-179 was adopted on December 19, 1985, pursuant to 720 ILCS 5/47-5 regarding regulations for Will County of nuisance fires, and which was subsequently amended by Resolution 00-469 adopted on November 16, 2000; and

WHEREAS, the County Board of Will County, Illinois, finds that it is the best interest of the citizens of Will County to amend said ordinance; and

WHEREAS, in order to provide for the health, safety and welfare the best interest of the county and its residents, section 93.018 regarding location of fires is being updated; and

WHEREAS, the County Board has determined that the language of Section 93.018 should be changed to prevent fires from being located not less than 50 feet from any property line as well as any neighboring structure; and

WHEREAS, a public hearing was held on February 14, 2002, relative to said amendment and the Health & Aging Committee recommends said change;

WHEREAS, the County Board wishes to amend Section 93.018 so that said section shall now read as follows:

93.018 LOCATION OF FIRES

Fires shall be located not less than 50 feet from any property line or any neighboring structure, with adequate provisions made to prevent spreading of the fire. Legitimate campfires shall be located no less than 50 feet from any neighboring structure.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the County Board of Will County, Illinois, officially amends the Will County Code of Ordinances, Title IX, Chapter 93, Section 93.018 and that this amendment be adopted and effective upon such adoption by the Will County Board.
