Troy Fire Protection District
FIREFIGHTER/EMT

The Troy Fire Protection District will establish an initial eligibility list for the position of Firefighter/EMT. Applications will be available January 27 through February 2, 2012, during the hours of 9:00-11:00 a.m. and 1:00-3:00 p.m. Applicants must appear in person and show a valid driver’s license as proper identification to obtain an application; one application per person. Applications when completed must be filed in person during the hours of 9:00-11:00 a.m. and 1:00-3:00 p.m. (weekdays).
Applications must be received by the District no later than February 3, 2012, 3:00 p.m. Any application received after February 3, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. will not be considered.

Age Requirements: Applicants must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age at the time of hire and under thirty-five (35) years of age on the last date of submission of applications for original appointment unless otherwise provided by state or federal law and District policy.

Scope of Examination: The examination will consist of a written test and an oral interview. The examination will be scored on a 100 point scale. Candidates may also be eligible to claim the following preference points: Veteran, Educational, Paramedic, Residency, Prior Service as an Employee of the District, and Prior Service with as a Contract Employee with the District.

Examination Schedule:

Mandatory orientation will be held at 9 a.m., February 4, 2012 at Troy Crossroads School, located at 210 E. Black Rd, Shorewood, IL 60404.

The written examination will be conducted at 9 a.m., February 18 2012 at Troy Crossroads School, located at 210 E. Black Rd, Shorewood, IL 60404.

Oral interviews will be announced after the written examination

Physical Ability Requirements: Applicants must provide proof of a current and valid CPAT card at the written exam and again following the oral interview.

Additional Requirements: Applicants must supply a copy of his/her Firefighter II certification and I.D.P.H. EMT license with the completed application. Applicants will be required to become a paramedic within two years of hire date.

Applications may be picked up at Troy Fire Protection District Station #1, 700 Cottage St. Shorewood IL. 60404. Applicants will be charged $35.00 for the application packet and it must be returned on time, no refunds.
