MESSAGE FROM THE FIRE CHIEF

Dear Residents and Visitors,

Welcome to and thank you for visiting the Troy Fire Protection District website.

We are proud of the services we provide to our residents and visitors and always strive to provide the highest quality of medical care and fire protective services. We care about your health and safety; we are here to serve you.

The Troy Fire Protection District provides emergency services to the entire Village of Shorewood, as well as the unincorporated sections of Troy Township. We respond to emergencies from two fire station locations, Station One located at 700 Cottage Street and Station Two located at 25454 Seil Road. Each Station has an Advanced Life Support (ALS) Ambulance staffed with paramedics, and an Engine (pumper) that is ALS equipped and staffed with paramedics. Also responding from Station One is our ALS equipped 100 foot ladder truck, also known as a tower.

Many people ask, “Why did a fire truck come when I called for an ambulance?" We respond with both vehicles because each has paramedics on board. These extra members can help provide patient care, which gets the patient to the hospital faster, which in turn will get that ambulance back in service as quickly as possible and available for another emergency call. If an ambulance from the closest station is already on a call, the fire engine will go as a "first responder” and establish contact with our patient while another ambulance responds. The first responders are paramedics and can perform all the same emergency care as the ambulance paramedics with the same equipment.

Watch us grow. The Fire District has purchased property on the West side of the District for a training facility and future fire station on Jones Road. This property will be undergoing extensive renovation and construction very soon. We will be constructing a firefighter training center and burn tower. The training center will be used to teach our current and next generation firefighter/paramedics the skills they will need to have a safe career in the fire service. This training center will be a regional asset for real “hands on” training and education.

Feel free to visit either fire station to meet your firefighter/paramedics, to tour the station and the emergency vehicles we have, and see the equipment we carry. Our staff is eager to share information on all the services we have to offer.

On behalf of the Fire District Trustees, Fire Commissioners, Officers, and Firefighters of the Troy Fire Protection District, thank you again for visiting our web site and stay safe.

Respectfully,

Paul Hertzmann, Fire Chief
